AR glasses have learned from Glassholes

The emerging field of augmented reality is making significant advancements and, although its technology is relatively new, it’s expected to reach a full-scale commercial adoption. In Venture Beat’s article “AR glasses have learned from Glassholes,” Aurangzeb describes augmented reality as a novelty and how it must overcome this initial stage in new technology. When looking at one of augmented reality first devices, Google Glass comes to mind. The interaction you receive with Google Glass is limited and often times inefficient. This raises the need to adopt standard HCI (Human Computer Interaction) methods within the AR market.

Dr. Yue Fei, the CTO of uSens, explains, “How we interact with virtual objects should mimic how we interact in the real world. Computer vision-based hand-tracking solutions that model a user’s hands to re-create a virtual hand – acting as the ‘controllers’ for AR glasses — allows for natural manipulation of virtual objects. This type of immersion is needed to push the entire AR industry forward; only when AR/VR companies build products that mimic how we interact in the real world will we see AR glass adoption rates increase,” he further adds.
